Ulster Museum, Stranmillis Road, Botanic Gardens, Belfast, County Antrim, BT9 5AB
Still from artist Anushiya Sundaralingam performance for Tappi Odu (Flee) art installation in the Ulster Museum

About

Watch a performance by Tamil artist Anushiya Sundaralingam, and get involved in this participatory workshop, based on our current art installation Tappi Odu (Flee) in the Ulster Museum on Wednesday 30th October.

Tappi Odu (Flee) explores the collective experiences of Tamil communities and diaspora populations. The installation features images of footprints from countries across the globe.

At this event, you'll be invited to participate in a communal piece and leave your own footprints - bare, vulnerable, and symbolic of the universal experience of displacement.

What to know:

-This event is drop-in and will take place in the Belfast Room, first come first served.
-The performance will take place at 13:00 with the workshop at 14:00
-This event is suitable for those aged 14+
-This event is part of Sundaralingam's installation 'தப்பி ஓடு Tappi Odu (Flee)' which can be seen in the Window on Our World gallery in the Ulster Museum.

About the Artist

Anushiya Sundaralingam is a multi-disciplinary artist from Sri Lanka who has lived through the conflict in her homeland. She explores themes of displacement, migration, and the diaspora experience. Although she wasn't forced to leave, the impact of the civil war that began in July 1983 deeply influences her work. Having relocated to Belfast in 1995, she has created art that reflects the complexity of belonging, identity, and cultural transition.
