Accommodation in Northern Ireland

No matter where you go, there are choices aplenty to suit your numbers, your budget, and your sense of style. Speaking of style, there’s been a big renaissance in modern-style reimaginations of some of Northern Ireland’s iconic buildings and places. The former design and drawing rooms at the famous Harland & Wolff Belfast shipyard have been turned into a stylish Titanic Hotel. It sits almost in the shadow of the twin cranes that dominate the city skyline. 

Elsewhere across Belfast, you can choose from some of the many former banks and office buildings that have been carefully and beautifully reborn as hotels and travel apartments for style and comfort-conscious travellers. 

Self-catering accommodation

If self-catering is what you’re after, then there are literally hundreds of places to choose from. In Northern Ireland, we’re big on adventures of all sorts, and self-catering can be the simplest and best-value way of giving yourself the freedom to come and go as you please. After all, no two days in Northern Ireland are the same, so the independence to do it your way has plenty of advantages. 

You’ll find a wide choice of self-catering apartments in Belfast, Derry-Londonderry and the bigger towns. There’s a wide choice to be had for shorter and longer stays, from a 1-bedroom studio overlooking Rathlin Island, to a palace fit for a king. Namely (but not only) the entire West Wing of Crom Castle, County Fermanagh or the appropriately-titled Narrow Water Castle at Warrenpoint, County Down.

The great outdoors are at their greatest when you get to immerse yourself in them day and night. This is where camping comes into its own. Northern Ireland just happens to have some of the most varied campsites and outdoor-oriented accommodation. 

For starters, you can camp it up in style by going glamping with sites in every county. You can enjoy home comforts in the wildest of places, such as at Thornfield Farm in the Glens of Antrim - almost right next to the Dark Hedges of Game of Thrones® fame. Just the place for a midnight ramble? 

Campsites, caravan parks and holiday villages

Many like to leave some of the comforts of home behind, and enjoy the freedom that comes with all being together, young and old alike. You’ll find plenty of opportunities for family-sized fun at one of the many campsites, caravan parks and holiday villages. These cluster around some of the perennially popular seaside towns such as Portrush, Portstewart, and Newcastle. 

From the downright fabulous to the funky and all points (and pillows) in between, there’s bed and board for everyone in Northern Ireland. Your biggest problem will be choosing.
