County Antrim is home to two of Northern Ireland’s main airports, making it one of the most accessible regions to reach by air.
Belfast International Airport (BFS) is located within County Antrim, just outside Antrim town, with flights from across the UK and Europe.
Belfast City Airport (BHD) is around 30 minutes from Antrim town by car.
City of Derry Airport (LDY) is another option, around 1 hour 30 minutes away.
Both Belfast airports offer car hire, taxi services and convenient bus connections across the county.
Daily ferry routes connect Belfast Harbour and nearby Port of Larne with Scotland and northern England, making it easy to travel by car or on foot.
Stena Line operates services between Belfast and Cairnryan, with onboard facilities and crossings of around two hours.
P&O Ferries sail between Larne and Cairnryan several times daily.
Both ports are within easy reach of the city by car, coach or train.
Translink’s Ulsterbus and Goldline networks provide regular and affordable travel throughout County Antrim. Services connect key towns and attractions including Ballymena, Antrim town, Ballycastle, Larne and the Causeway Coast.
Cross-border services also connect via Bus Éireann and Expressway, offering direct links from Dublin and other parts of Ireland.
Driving is one of the best ways to experience County Antrim’s varied landscapes, from glens and forests to rugged coastal roads.
Car hire is available at both Belfast airports, and there are plenty of parking options and EV charging points throughout the county.
County Antrim is best explored at your own pace.
Local bus services connect towns and visitor attractions, but having a car gives you the freedom to follow the scenic Causeway Coastal Route, visit hidden beaches, or explore the Glens of Antrim.
Walking trails, cycling routes and coastal viewpoints make it easy to enjoy the region’s natural beauty up close.
