Situated at the lower end of the town, 'Maginn’s of Castlewellan' is definitely the hot spot in the area with local and new customers, coming far and wide to enjoy everything this refreshing bar complex has to offer.

Whether you want some quality affordable food, relax with friends and family over a drink, watch your favourite sport or dance the night away then this outstanding family run bar has something for everyone.

Renowned for its friendly atmosphere, the whole building has been completely refitted with new bars on different levels, a function room and attractive features such as the new stain glass ceiling, sweeping wooden stair cases with unique carvings, comfortable snug style seating with lavish upholstery and air conditioning throughout.

Maginns has a reputation for serving good quality food prepared from fresh using locally sourced products. The Seasonal menus and daily specials ensure a wide and varied selection of competitively priced dishes.

Maginn's close proximity to the entrance of Castlewellan Forest park make it an ideal watering hole for visitors who can enjoy the many walks, visit the Peace Maze or recently refurbished arboretum, or indulge in such activities as fishing, Pony trekking or mountain biking.


The self contained function room is a popular venue for such occasions as weddings, christenings birthdays and anniversaries, conferences or group outings.

With 14 large screen tvs throughout the premises Maginns can accommodate those wishing to view different sports events being screened concurrently.

While on Saturday nights it is the destination for the young and not so young who enjoy listening and moving to the latest sounds in music.
