About
Building on the record-breaking 3,500 visitors during EHOD 2023 – one of the largest EHOD attractions within NI - the Ulster Aviation Society ('UAS') are again giving the public free access to the amazing pair of authentic Second World War hangars and their growing heritage collection, raising awareness of the site's cultural significance and heritage, along with its educational benefit to the community.
The heritage collection currently includes 54+ aircraft and vehicles ranging from vintage Second World War fighters through Cold War era and modern fast jets, helicopters, Shorts designed & built aircraft, Irish Air Corps, civilian aircraft, engines, vehicles, Aviation Library, Royal Observer Corps, and Aircrew Life Support Equipment.
There will be many aircraft outside their two hangars for the first time (weather-permitting), including the latest arrivals — an RAF Jaguar fastjet, plus Troubles-era Army' Lynx and Gazelle Helicopters.
Come and wander around their various aircraft - both Indoor and Outdoor - plus their multiple display rooms internally. Kids can enjoy collecting and wearing multiple stickers available for sitting in various planes and helicopters.
Volunteer Tour Guides will also be on hand to tell you interesting stories at various aircraft.
Try out the new 'UAS Digital Experiences' within their brand new, state-of-the-art, Flight Simulator suite with 3 Sims available.
Also try their 6 brand new VR Headsets and experience what it's like to fly in VR with the RAF Red Arrows, whilst actually sitting in a real Red Arrows' Hawk fastjet.
There may be some restoration work going on at the back of Hangar 2 as well, to give a flavour of what their Volunteers do.
Mobile catering companies will be on-site during the weekend for Teas, Coffees & Refreshments etc.
