Taste Autumn is set to show case the very best of Ards and North Down’s food and drink through a packed programme of events and expereinces, September 5th -15th. Savour seasonal tide and turf produce and some of the borough's finest food and drink which offers something for all palates.
Event highlights include;
Stargazing at Burr Point 5th Sept - Experience the incredible starry skies above Burr Point, the most easterly point on the island. Astronomers from the Northern Ireland Amateur Astronomy Society will be on hand with their telescopes ready to explore the planets and galaxies above.
Demo and Dine with Rachel Allen 6th Sept - A unique dining experience with celebrity chef Rachel Allen at Portavogie Harbour - enjoy welcome drinks and canapes, interactive starters, and main course platters followed by dessert. Rachel will demo some of the dishes from the menu which will feature the finest local produce, curated by the team at the local South Eastern Regional College (SERC).
Tide and Turf Food Festival Portavogie 7th Sept -The beautiful harbour village of Portavogie will host a celebration of delicious local produce as well as the Borough's finest food and drink.Your foodie dreams will come true as you savour the seasonal tide and turf produce.
Taste Donaghdee 7th Sept - A guided tour in the picturesque seaside town of Donaghadee, or Port Devine if you're a fan of the BBC police drama Hope Street. Your tour guide will lead you on a journey that will engage your taste buds whilst learning all about the fascinating tales of the town, meeting some great characters and learning about some local foodie facts.
Taste and Tales Comber 8th Sept - A September Sunday lunch and guided tour. Your journey begins at McBride’s on the Square where you'll enjoy a seasonal appetiser as you are introduced to your local expert guide, Lolly Spence, who will set the scene for your guided tour of Comber before heading off on part one of the tour around some key sites in this historic town. Then it’s back to the square for a visit to Michelin Guide listed No 14 the Georgian House, where Chef Jim Mulholland will have a locally sourced main course.
Chilli Festival 14th & 15th Sept - Things are hotting up in the Walled Garden. Showcasing many different varieties of chilli plants from around the world, local food producers and an evening BBQ (Sat14 Sept, ticketed). Get ready for a family fun afternoon, with stilt walkers, face painters, balloon modellers, live music from Los Dramaticos and plant and play workshops.
