Antrim Coast Half Marathon

About

The Antrim Coast Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile road race held on the August Bank Holiday Sunday 25 August 2024 at 09:30. It is a World Athletics Elite Label Road race, taking place on the Antrim Coast Road, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is based in the town of Larne, County Antrim.

With its flat and fast course, the race is one of the fastest half marathons in the world and offers the best of town and coastal running. Starting at the beginning of the iconic Antrim Coast Road, the course sweeps into Larne Harbour and through Larne town before moving onto the world-famous Antrim Coast Road. The coast’s stunning landscapes feature in many movies and television series, including HBO’s Game of Thrones, who used the area extensively as a filming location.

The 2024 edition sees the return of 2021 and 2022 race winner Yalemzerf Yehualaw, winner of 2022 London Marathon, current world record holder in the 10Km road race, and second on the world all-time list at the half marathon. And with more of the world's best taking part, it's shaping up to be one of the best half marathons in the world in 2024. Also set to return and pace the 2hr group is European 10Km track champion Jo Pavey.

The event will kick off on Friday 23 August with the Irish premier of Skid Row Marathon. The premier will be attended by the producers and stars of the LA based documentary who will take part in a Q&A after the screening.

The event is covered live on BBC iPlayer and all digital platforms to a global audience.

Through running we make a positive impact in every community we touch, inspiring everyone along the way. Our mission is to have the fastest race, on the most beautiful road, with the best party atmosphere in the world - a celebration of running.
