City of Derry International Choir Festival

About

The City of Derry International Choir Festival is hitting the big 1-0 this year! Can you believe it!?

We burst onto the scene way back in 2013 during the City of Culture celebrations, and now we’re all grown up and ready to party!

To celebrate this incredible milestone, we’ve got an amazing lineup of guest artists and concerts galore at this year’s festival.

World-renowned choral ensemble The Sixteen is coming back to the Guildhall on Friday 20th October, with their programme “A Watchful Gaze” – an inspirational journey through music and history, marking the 400th anniversary of the death of legendary composer William Byrd. Also, mark your calendars for the highly anticipated Opening Gala Concert on Wednesday 18th October, Verdi’s dramatic Messa da Requiem at the Millennium Forum with the Ulster Orchestra, Festival Chorus, and soloists.

Of course we will have our usual line up of school competitions, national and international competitions. And we’re throwing in loads of free community events and awesome workshops to help you embrace the joy of singing!

Join us as we take over the city of Derry and its surrounding areas with a tidal wave of magical musical merriment.  It’s going to be an absolute blast, so make sure you’re there to soak up what promises to be a sensational singing extravaganza!

Mark your calendars, folks! The celebration kicks off on October 18 and runs until October 22 2023.
