Many evacuees came here from Belfast when that city was being bombed by the Luftwaffe. Civilians joined civil defence organisations such as the Ulster Home Guard, Air Raid Precautions Services and Women's Voluntary Services.

Learn how the war revolutionised the industrial life of the town. Factories in the town turned their attention to making essential products required on the front line. Tanks were assembled and a linen factory was adapted to make parachutes.

This is an interesting and informative tour, with important lessons for a modern audience.
