About
Carrickfergus marina continues Carrickfergus’ proud maritime traditions by offering a spectacular and modern facility with every imaginable amenity for the sailing community including 300 fully serviced pontoon berths. It has held the prestigious 5 Gold Anchor accreditation for over 10 years.Site facilities include 24/7 staffing, showers and toilets, a nautical themed family bathroom with baby changing, laundry facilities, bespoke marine services area and a modern conference suite. Inside the Marina Office, there is a local information display, well stocked chart table for passage planning together with hybrid touch chart plotter and a lounge area with complimentary hot drinks. Outside, the pontoons have been recently fitted with a new electricity system, upgraded lead-in lights and a live weather station. Weather information is available by app on a real time basis, also giving daily, monthly and annual data.
The area around the Marina is a hub of activity. A modern complex that offers a variety of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, children’s play parks, a multi-screen cinema and the unforgettable 12th century Norman castle, all within 500 metres of the marina itself.
The promenade provides a beautiful walk, taking visitors around the entire marina area and to a small headland, where for much of spring and summer, seals can be spotted squabbling for basking space on a rock which just barely breaks the surface of the water. The headland also offers wonderful views across the lough to Royal Belfast Golf Club and Helen’s Bay and up the lough to Belfast with Samson and Goliath, the world famous twin yellow cranes of Harland and Wolff, just visible.
Awards include: TYHA 5 Gold Anchor Award, RYA Berthholder Charter and Sailability Centre for Disabled Sailing. Currently undergoing assessment for the recently revived European Blue Flag Marina status.
