Dobbins Inn

Dobbins Inn is situated in the heart of Carrickfergus on its High Street, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere from the log fire in the bar lounge to the quality service and top-class food in the new Landings restaurant.

The hotel also recently celebrated being awarded a three star hotel rating in the summer of 2018 after beginning a period of interior renovation which will eventually see all 15 bedrooms refurbished whilst still maintaining the quaint and old world charm of the centuries old building.

Dobbins Inn has a unique legacy spanning at least 800 years. Built in the early 13th Century by the Norman Knight Reginald D'Aubin, the Inn is a well loved establishment and a listed building with period features including 16th Century Priest Hole and Elizabethan Fireplace as well as our resident ghost Maud!

In 2018 The Fallis family celebrated 40 years of running one of Northern Ireland’s oldest hotels 2018. On 1st April 1978 Derek and Maureen Fallis took the keys to Dobbin’s Inn Hotel in Carrickfergus and are now supported by daughter Kirsty as they start another 40 years in the hospitality business.

Over the years Dobbins Inn has welcomed many thousands of visitors from around the world – with television host Philip Schofield, West Indies cricketing legend Sir Garry Sobers and US wrestling icon John Cena among famous patrons.

Carrickfergus Castle and St Nicholas Church are less than five minutes’ walk from the hotel. With the Gobbins Coastal Path and Whitehead Railway Museum within half-an-hour by car, Dobbins is a perfect base from which to tour the scenic Causeway Coastal Route.

In February 2018 work began on a joint project involving Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and the Historic Environment Division (HED) to examine how much of a 14th century castle remained.

These restorations saw the entrance half of the building restored to an original castle facade while the other half was restored to the original 15th century town house look.
