About

Mudfest 2026: stomp, splash and squelch this February half-term
Go mad for mud from 7 to 15th February 2026.

Grab your wellies and head to WWT Castle Espie this February half term and get stuck in with Mudfest – where messy means fun!

Get ready to dive into the muddy magic of our wetlands! Mud isn't just messy - it's marvellous. It's the stuff our super-powered wetlands and great family adventures are made of. For one week only this February half term, embrace the mess and discover just how brilliant mud can be with these hands-on activities:

Cook up a muddy masterpiece in our mud kitchen (just don't taste it!).
Tackle our muddy obstacle course - climb, crawl, and creep your way through the fun.
Sculpt your own wetland bird using clay and natural materials.
Build a mud nest fit for a wetland bird - safe, sturdy, and super squelchy.
Splash through puddles of every size - because clean clothes are overrated!
Take aim in our mudslinging contest - scoop, sling, and score!
Embrace the mess, unleash your creativity, and celebrate the wonder of wetlands at Mudfest!

Stomp, splash, squelch!
