About

Tá Féile Cheoil Idirnáisiúnta IMBOLC ina imeacht suaithinseach is saol cultúrtha an Iarthuaiscirt, agus ar cheann de phríomhfhéilte ceoil na hÉireann. Ó bunaíodh í in 2016 tá clú agus cáil faighte aici, agus dúradh fúithi gur “féile bheag ar ardchaighdeán í do chathair bheag ar ardchaighdeán – arna cur le chéile go hilghnéitheach agus le ceol analógach, rud is annamh is iontach.”

Tá an fhéile dírithe ar phobal ceoil ionchuimsitheach a chothú, agus ceiliúrann sí traidisiún ina fhoirmeacha ilghnéitheacha agus glacann sí le héagsúlacht. Tá aithne uirthi as a bhríomhaire atá sí, agus cuireann sí ar taispeáint léirithe den scoth agus tacaíonn sí le ceoltóirí atá ag teacht chun cinn i seánraí éagsúla.

Príomh-bhuaicphointe den fhéile is ea a coimisiúnuithe ceoil saindeartha, a chruthaítear i gcomhar le cumadóirí tréitheacha. Ligeann na coimisiúnaithe seo do lucht éisteachta teacht ar fhuaimeanna úra, agus cuireann siad deis ar fáil do cheoltóirí a gcruthaitheacht a fhiosrú agus saothair nua a chur i láthair.

I gclár na féile tá ceolchoirmeacha, ceardlanna, clubanna féile domhain san oíche, agus conair seisiún ceoil thraidisiúnta in ionaid, tithe tábhairne agus caifélanna Dhoire, a bhfuil clú agus cáil orthu, rud a chiallaíonn go mbeidh eispéireas dodhearmadta ann i gcathair a bhfuil saibhreas carachtair aici.

Tá rath ar Fhéile Cheoil Idirnáisiúnta IMBOLC a bhuí le tacaíocht fhlaithiúil Chomhairle Ealaíon Thuaisceart Éireann agus Chomhairle Chathair Dhoire agus Cheantar an tSratha Báin, rud a chinntíonn go bhfuil ról aici go fóill mar cheiliúradh bríomhar ceoil agus cultúir.

IMBOLC International Music Festival is a standout event in the North West's cultural scene and one of Ireland's premier music festivals. Since its inception in 2016, it has gained widespread acclaim, described as “a boutique festival for a boutique city - eclectically curated and refreshingly analogue.”

Dedicated to fostering an inclusive music community, the festival celebrates tradition in its diverse forms while embracing variety. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, it showcases world-class performances and champions emerging talent across genres.

A key highlight of the festival is its bespoke music commissions, created in collaboration with talented composers. These commissions enable audiences to discover fresh sounds while offering musicians the chance to explore their creativity and present new works.

The festival programme features concerts, workshops, late-night festival clubs, and a traditional music session trail in Derry’s renowned venues, pubs, and cafes, making for an unforgettable experience in a city that’s rich in character.

IMBOLC International Music Festival thrives thanks to the generous support of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Derry City and Strabane District Council, ensuring its continued role as a vibrant celebration of music and culture.
