The 11th C.S. Lewis Festival, taking place from Friday 24th - Sunday 26th November, promises to captivate hearts and minds with an array of exciting and creative events designed to inspire all who attend.
The festival's hub, C.S. Lewis Square, will be transformed into a winter wonderland, hosting a delightful array of family-friendly Narnia and Christmas-themed activities. Attendees can revel in the magic of the season with an outdoor screening of The Polar Express and Christmas at C.S. Lewis Square, a highlight of the east Belfast winter calendar, featuring the enchanting Narnia Market, live music, Christmas arts and crafts, Narnia-themed selfie pods, and the lighting of the Christmas Tree.
Children and families are in for a treat with an array of activities, including White Witch storytelling, sensory play sessions, and Narnia Lamppost STEM workshops at EastSide Visitor Centre. Aunt Sandra's will showcase sweet-making demonstrations, and there's even a chance to embark on a real-life Mr. Tumnus tour of "Narnia" right in C.S. Lewis Square.
For those keen to delve into C.S. Lewis' roots in east Belfast, the festival offers a unique opportunity to discover more through the C.S. Lewis 'The Strandtown Years' Walking Tour. A special addition to this year's programme is the debut of a drama tour, where three local actors will skilfully embody 12 significant characters from C.S. Lewis' life.
St. Mark’s Dundela will commemorate the 60th anniversary of C.S. Lewis' passing with two special events. Visitors can enjoy a free tour of the church, which holds significant connections to the renowned author, as well as a special anniversary service.
Nottingham-based author and lecturer, Professor Jem Bloomfield, will be a featured guest, presenting his latest book, Paths in the Snow: A Literary Journey through 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. This engaging literary journey traces the allusions and echoes found within the beloved novel, offering an enriching experience for readers who wish to delve deeper into the magic and meaning of Narnia.
