About
Enjoy a tour around the carefully restored cottage and learn about the US Rangers and how they formed in Carrickfergus, listen to stories and tales of how American soldiers spent their time in Carrickfergus.
The 18th Century thatched stone Cottage was restored as a tribute to Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the USA whose parents lived nearby. Located less than a mile from the town centre off the Larne Road, this single storey building has been restored to its original state. The interior has been decorated with a dresser, spongeware crockery, iron pots and griddles. The cottage also has a collection of Ulster patchwork quilts.
Beside the Jackson Cottage is a museum dedicated to the US Rangers, the elite American army regiment. Formed in 1942, the US Rangers were based in Carrickfergus during World War 11. The exhibition has an enthralling collection of material detailing this famed combat unit.
