Situated on the shores of Strangford Lough in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Delamont Country Park, Killyleagh, Co Down, offers  peace, beauty and tranquillity. The stunning views across Strangford Lough and the relaxing atmosphere make Delamont Country Park a place to enjoy that 'away from it all feeling'. It is home of the Strangford Stone - the tallest megalith in Ireland. This beautiful 200-acre Country Park offers a great day out for visitors of all ages. Whether you are a keen walker, a nature lover or simply looking for a great day out for all the family you will find plenty to entertain you in Delamont Country Park.

What activities are there in Delamont Country Park?

There are beautiful, panoramic views across Strangford Lough to the Mourne Mountains. Enjoy one of the fantastic countryside walks, there are a number of way-marked tails, you choose your distance from 1km to 7km.

You can walk along the shores of Strangford Lough through a mixture of coastal, parkland and woodland which are all interlinked and can be easily added to or shortened.  Mullagh Walk is 1km, Delamont Garden walk 1.2km, Strangford walk 2km, Corbally Walk 4km and the Longwalk is 7km. 

The walks are wheelchair accessible and there are mobility rambler scooters available for use in the park. 

You can also horse ride in the park.

What are the opening hours of Delamont Country Park?

Delamont Country Park is open

March and October 9am - 6pm

April and September 9am - 8pm

May to August 9am - 9pm

November to February 9am - 5pm

Delamont Country Park is closed Christmas Day.

Do I have to pay to get into Delamont Country Park?

Access to the park on foot or by bicycle is free.  Charges apply for the parking of vehicles. Click here for more details.  

Are Dogs allowed in Delamont Country Park?

Yes.  Dogs are allowed in Delamont Country Park but must be kept on a lead at all times. There is a dog exercise field where leads are not required.  

Dogs are not permitted in the Children's Play Park.

How do I get to Delamont Country Park from Belfast and Dublin?

From Belfast follow the A1 to Ormeau Road/A24.  Follow the A24 and A7 to Killyleagh Street in Crossgar.  Continue on Killyleagh Street to Killyleagh.  Follow Downpatrick Road to Delamont Country Park.  Delamont Country Park is located on the left.  From Dublin continue on M1.  Take A1 to Lower Quilly Road, Dromore.  Follow B2 to Church Street/A24 in Ballynahinch.  At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Church Street A24. Turn left onto Downpatrick Road/B2. Turn right onto Belfast Road/A7.  Follow Finnebrogue Road and A22 to Delamont Country Park.  The entrance is on the right.

What Time can I go Horse Riding/Pony Trekking in the Park? 

October - March: Daily 10am - 4pm.

April - September: Monday - Friday 9am - 9pm. Saturday and Sunday: 9am - 11am

Bank Holidays: 9am - 11am

Can I access mobility scooters at the Park?

Mobility Scooters are availble for use throughout the Park.

Users must be registered with Shopmobility Belfast and provide their Shopmobility membership card required on arrival.

Delamont Country Park is situated 30 minutes drive from Belfast and five minutes drive from Downpatrick on the A22 Downpatrick to Comber Road.
