About

Walk through winding forest paths and enjoy the solitude and natural beauty of this place as Denis shares tall tales of lore and intriguing anecdotes of times past. Explore the legends of the fabled giant Fionn MacCumhaill and the mythical Goddess Queen Áine, while discovering points of historical interest along the way.

A steep climb of Knockmany Hill, rewards with wondrous panoramic views of the Clogher Valley as far as the Mourne mountains in the east and Cuilcagh to the west. At the summit lies the Knockmany Passage Tomb, said to be the resting place of the famous goddess Áine. With special access granted by keyholder, visitors have a rare opportunity to explore this 3000 BC Neolithic tomb, adorned with intricate megalithic art.

Enjoy this unique opportunity to get outdoors in beautiful Clogher Valley and connect with the spiritual and cultural heritage of the magical Knockmany Forest.

The walk is 6 km, and will take approximately 2 hours to complete. The approach to the summit is quite steep in places, and those wishing to join should have a moderate/good level of fitness.

Start and finish at the centre in the main car park, toilet facilities located in the centre.
