About
The Foyle and its tributaries covering 3670sq.km and spanning the counties of Donegal, Derry and Tyrone, hide fishing's best kept secret. Each year tens of thousands of salmon, grilse and sea trout run the waters of the Foyle System, making it one of the richest fishing rivers in Europe and one of the best salmon waters in the world. Game, coarse and sea fishing opportunities exist through local angling clubs and through other private/government interests.Book Tickets

A rod licence is required to fish on rivers and lakes (known locally as 'loughs') in the Loughs Agency area. This applies equally to those fishing for trout, coarse fish and salmon.
Licences are available as a season licence, 14 day licence, 3 day licence and juvenile licence.
Holders of game fishing licences issued in other parts of Ireland (north and south) can obtain an endorsement from the Loughs Agency that authorises them to fish in Agency waters.
In addition to a rod licence, it is a requirement to hold a permit to fish on many stretches of river and on many of the lakes in the Foyle and Carlingford systems. Guidance is often available from local licence distributors or check with the Loughs Agency. As an indication of affordability, a typical day permit costs in the region of £10.
More information on licences and permits is available on the Loughs Agency Website
