Belfast’s ‘Hidden Gems’: Discover the City’s Path to Peace Story with Expert Guides, Music and Dance - Experience a unique perspective on Belfast, as expert guides reveal the city’s lesser-known treasures and share its rich tapestry of history, culture, and tradition. This immersive journey offers a deeper appreciation of Belfast’s transformation, from a city marked by intercommunal conflict to a vibrant centre of culture and shared heritage.

The Origin of the ‘Troubles’ Religion, Riots and Rebels Belfast Walking Tour - This 2 hour walking tour, covers the history of the 'Troubles' from the 16th century through the Good Friday Agreement. Led by Francis Higgins, author of ‘You Could Die Laughing – Growing Up in the Troubles and Religion, Riots and Rebels’, the tour blends academic insights with personal perspectives. It's ideal for tourists, educators, and anyone connected to Ireland seeking to understand the role of religion, unrest, and reconciliation in the conflict’s history.

Two Sides – One Story’ the Causes and Consequences of the ‘Troubles’ - This unique academic experience and tour is led by Francis Higgins and Gerry McClory, two professionally accredited guides whose personal stories encapsulate the divisions and reconciliations that have defined Northern Ireland’s recent history. Remarkably, the two guides—both professionally accredited—were born and spent their formative years just 300 metres apart, yet their paths did not cross until 2020. Discover firsthand perspectives from both sides of Belfast’s conflicted past on a 3-hour tour. This is a unique opportunity to discover the real story you won't get from history books.

Explore up close, on foot, the world-famous murals that depict the social, political, and cultural history of the city that earns its reputation as the largest, outdoor art gallery in the world and understand the stories behind them.

Conflicting Stories’ Belfast Cab Tours - Discover Belfast’s past with the ‘Conflicting Stories’ tour, led by two ex-combatant taxi drivers from each side of the city’s divide. The 2 hour tour takes guests across the city in iconic taxis, swapping vehicles at the ‘Peace Walls’, a symbol of Belfast’s ongoing reconciliation. As the only tour guided by verified former participants in the Troubles, it blends academic research and firsthand experience. Guides—either ex-prisoners or former British Army soldiers—recount personal stories and explain the significance of murals and memorials on both sides of the Peace Line.

Please note that all statements and opinions shared by the guides are personal and do not represent the views of BelfastLad & Co Tours, which does not endorse any political view, the use of violence, or the promotion of any political agenda. The guides are free to share their own experiences of the Troubles.

Ireland and North America ‘Rebels to Revolutionaries’ -The exact start and end of Ireland's ‘Troubles’ are unclear, even with relative peace following the 1998 Peace Agreement and the mid-2000s weapon decommissioning. However, the roots of violence from the 1960s to 2016 are well documented. This four-hour coach and walking tour, offers a unique perspective from the last Gaelic Lord of Belfast’s stronghold, the castle of the eagles at Castlereagh. From there, the journey proceeds to the Peace Walls and Murals, where visitors uncover the intended meanings, hidden politics, and memorials associated with the ‘Troubles’.
