About

Relaxing at the western foothills of the Sperrins in County Tyrone, Ballynasollus Cottage has majestic views across the Glenelly Valley and the Sperrin Mountains.

The cottage, originally built in 1871 in local red sandstone has now been fully restored, retaining all original features yet modernised to a twenty first century standard making your stay more comfortable.

The cottage has two double bedrooms and can accommodate four adults and has cot and sofa bed for children. The cottage is wheelchair accessible and pet friendly.

Ballynasollus cottage is set in 130 acres of wood, grassland and moor. All parts of the northern half of the island of Ireland are accessible within two and a half hours by car. The walled city of Derry~Londonderry, the Giant's Causeway and the Donegal hinterland are all within an hour by car. There are several approved walks in the forests and mountains locally as well as approved cycle routes and scenic drives through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Several championship golf courses are within an hour such as Murvagh and Royal Portrush. Other excellent golf courses locally include Newtonstewart, Strabane, Omagh, Ballybofey, City of Derry, Roe Park and Fintona. Shopping is abundant in Strabane (which has one of the highest turnover Asda/Walmart stores in the world), Derry~Londonderry, Omagh and Letterkenny where all the top retailers can be found. Out door adventure pursuits can be done in nearby Gortin such as canoeing on the Owenkillew River or mountain biking in the Gortin Glens.

Also available are guided tours around local archeological monuments such as the Clogherny wedge tomb, geological tours and nature trails.

You could also take an afternoon to watch a game of rugby or Gaelic football at one of the many local clubs.
