About

This restored 18th-century Gaol makes an ideal day out for families, groups, schools and individuals. Take a journey through 9,000 years of history through our permanent exhibition 'Down Through Time' or visit our restored cell block with life-size figures of prisoners and their gaolers. We also have temporary displays throughout the year. In addition the museum organises a host of special events every year. These range from talks, lectures and conferences to family days, living history events, seasonal events, craft workshops and demonstrations.

The museum is fully accessible for families with young children, visitors with mobility difficulties and wheelchair users. Facilities include a tea room, where you can avail of home made lunches and snacks, toilets/baby changing available and the museum shop has an excellent range of books on local history, items of local crafts, children's goods and souvenirs.

Euro accepted in shop and tea-room.
