Cushendun Old Church is a lovely mid C19 rural Church of Ireland Church, lovingly restored by Cushendun Building Preservation Trust. Now home to the Old Church Centre, it is a a vibrant hub for arts, heritage and community in the heart of the Glens of Antrim. The project to rescue and repurpose the building began in 2006. After an epic campaign and with funding from among others NLHF & Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council the Centre finally opened its doors in 2019. The Old Church Centre is a great demonstration of the value of our heritage buildings and the potential and versatility they have to contribute to a thriving community and a valued environment. Information about unique architecture of the village, the many artists, poets and writers who made Cushendun their home, and the rich cultural heritage of the Glens of Antrim, will be on display for visitors EHOD is part of Cushendun’s Culture Month and throughout September the Old Church Centre is hosting a programme of events including the Ulster Orchestra, Together Mary Dillon, Dónal O’Connor, and Neil Martin, painting by Bobby Speers and much more, so be sure to take the road to Cushendun.
