About

Join Us for an Unforgettable Saint Patrick’s Day at Slemish!

Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day in spectacular style on Monday 17 March with a memorable trek up Slemish—the legendary mountain where Ireland’s patron saint once tended sheep.

This iconic annual tradition invites you to conquer the 1.5-kilometre round walk to the summit and take in the breathtaking panoramic views. The hike takes approximately one hour, so be sure to wear warm, waterproof layers and sturdy footwear (boots recommended—no soft trainers!).

After your climb, soak up the festive atmosphere at the music marquee in Slemish Car Park. Enjoy a lively lunchtime showcase of traditional Irish music and dance, featuring performances by the Portglenone Comhaltas Group and the Counties Antrim and Derry Country Fiddlers Association. Face painting will be available for children, making this a fantastic day out for all ages!

This is more than just a walk—it’s an experience filled with history, music, and celebration. Whether you’re embracing your Irish roots or simply looking for an incredible day out, don’t miss your chance to be part of this special tradition!

Gather your friends and family and join us for an unforgettable Saint Patrick’s Day at Slemish!

Please note:

Be prepared: Some sections of the short climb may be steep and slippery, so it might not be suitable for everyone. Don't forget to grab your climber's certificate (limited quantity available) to commemorate the special day!

🚍 Access to the event is by Park and Ride ONLY.  There will be no parking anywhere near Slemish and traffic patrols will enforce all no waiting cones, so a free park and ride service will operate from Michelin at Raceview Road, Broughshane, just off the M2. Follow the yellow and black event signs on all approaches. Parking for blue badge vehicles is also available at Michelin.  The shuttle bus service will operate from 09:00 - 15.30 (last departure from Michelin).  Only assistance/service dogs are permitted.
