About

Flanked by the wild North Atlantic Ocean and a landscape of dramatic cliffs, the Giant's Causeway is a geological wonder and home to a wealth of history and legend. The 40,000 basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago, has captured the imagination of all who see it.

Recognised as one of Northern Ireland’s most precious landscapes is cared for by the National Trust, a registered conservation charity founded to protect beautiful and special places for ever, for everyone.

Explore a state-of-the-art interpretation within the award-winning Visitor Centre to unlock the mystery, myth and legend of this amazing place as it offers a unqiue glimpse into the wonder that is the Giant's Causeway. Join a member of the National Trust team on an award-winning guided tour to unlock the myth and legend of the landscape. You can also enjoy the easy to use audio guide as it takes you on a personal journey of discovery around the site, which is available in different languages.

For the best rates, pre-book your Visitor Experience tickets in advance via the official Giant's Causeway website prior to travelling to the site. Pre-booking helps the team to prepare for your arrival and to spread visitor numbers more evenly throughout the day, improving everyone's experience. National Trust Members and Local Pass Holders gain free access, however pre-booking is strongly recommended for everyone.

How long is the walk to the Giants Causeway from the Visitor Centre? There are a total of 4 walking trails at the Giants Causeway, the blue, red, green and yellow trails. The blue route is the shortest and begins at the visitors centre and continues for about 15 minutes before reaching the main part of the Causeway. The distance until the very end of the trail is 0.8 miles where you will see the giant's boot.

There is a bus running from the rear of the Visitor Centre to the Grand Causeway and return. This shuttle service is operated by Translink and costs £1/ €1.20 for use of this service, intended for visitors who could not walk independently to and from the stones themselves. Priority should be given to visitors in need of this service.

Guided Tours - Hourly guided tours are available from the storytelling team as part of the Visitor Experience. On arrival, please speak to a member of the team for further information.

Admission cost - Pedestrian access to the Giant's Causeway itself is free. To avail of the Visitor Experience, which includes reserved on-site parking, guided tours, use of hand-held audio guides, access to exhibition and interpretation areas, the shop, café and use of all facilities, including the loan of accessibility equipment, for the best rates, pre-book your tickets prior to travelling to the site. Find out more about ticket prices on the official Giant's Causeway website.

If you are arriving by campervan/motorhome, please use the Park and Ride facility in Bushmills village. Simply park at Dundarave Car Park and purchase your discounted Green Tickets from the Bushmills Visitor Information Centre.

National Trust Members and Blue Badge Holders arriving by campervan/motorhome may make their way to the main Visitor Centre car park, where spaces are limited but you will be accommodated if spaces are available.
