European Heritage Open Days 2025 (Various Dates)

The Department for Communities is inviting you to get out and about and explore over 200 of Northern Ireland’s historic landmarks and hidden heritage as part of European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) 2025. Taking place on 13 - 14 September 2025, offering free public access to historic sites, cultural landmarks, and special events across Northern Ireland and in County Tyrone. This packed programme of events and activities including guided tours, talks and lectures, living history re-enactments, community fun days and more, has something for everyone and is not to be missed! Some Tyrone locations include An Creagán, Ulster American Folk Park, Sacred Heart Church, Caledon Beam Engine, Castle Caulfield, Tullaghoge Fort and Caledon Courthouse

Built in 1801 and restored by the Friends of the Glens at Gortnagarn, Omagh Co Tyrone in 2015. The kiln was used by the local farming community, over generations in the production of lime in the area to fertilise their fields.
