Loughview Lodge is a Tourism NI certified one bedroom detached house, situated on the Blackhead Coastal Path, part of the award winning Causeway Coastal Route. It is secluded within a private, mature garden with stunning views overlooking Belfast Lough, the County Down coastline and The Copeland Islands.
Loughview Lodge provides a luxurious, relaxing stay for all guests, whether you are looking for a base to explore or a romantic get-away, it's perfect for all occasions.
The Space
Entrance: Bright spacious entrance with welcome folder and tourist information. A welcome basket is provided for each booking upon arrival which includes milk, bread, butter, jam, cereal, biscuits, tea and coffee.
Bedroom: Equipped with continental double bed. We can also provide two single beds upon request, please see photos. A full length mirror and wardrobe with built in drawers has been provided for storage.
Bathroom: Modern and spacious bathroom with extra large quadrant shower equipped with drenching shower head. Bright earth hand wash, shampoo & body wash and conditioner is provided for guests to use.
Kitchen: New modern kitchen equipped with all essential appliances such as oven, grill, extractor fan, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. We have provided a Tassimo Coffee machine with complimentary coffee pods for guests to enjoy.
Living/Dining area: Bright and spacious living and dining area which has seating provided for 6 guests. You will find a full entertainment system with 4K Smart TV including Netflix and Disney Plus, and Alexa Speaker. A reading area has been created for guests to relax and unwind, with a range of books available by award winning authors. A fold out sofa bed can be found at the back of the room, for which bedding can be provided upon request.
Integral Garage: Space provided for guests to store equipment such as golf clubs, mountain bikes and luggage. It also houses the two washing machines, tumble dryer, freezer and extra fridge, useful for chilling wine, beer and drinks. A clothing and shoe rail is provided to allow guests to hang wet coats, muddy shoes and wetsuits. There is also a second washing machine provided to enable guests to wash dog rugs, dog towels etc. The garage is also a useful space to dry off your dogs after a day of exploring, which can be directly accessed via an electrically operated garage door.
Outside: Guests have access to a private mature garden with outdoor seating area. Please note: The garden is partly unfinished due to recent water mains installation. We respectfully ask guests to refrain from walking on the muddy area for the meantime.
Guest access: Guests will have full private access to the property with the above outside caveat.

The Area: Located one mile from Whitehead village, we are situated on the Blackhead Coastal Walk near Whitehead Golf Club. Just along the lane is the Blackhead Lighthouse, which you can easily walk to. The property is accessed via a country lane which is uneven in areas, so please drive slowly. We live beside Loughview Lodge so should you need assistance during your stay, we are on hand to help. However, you will have total privacy during you stay. It is a very quiet area with little traffic.
In Whitehead village you find McKees Home Bakery, with daily fresh breads, pastries and cakes. In Whitehead you will also find McMasters Butchers, which have a wide section of meats that are grown locally. Why not try some dulce, otherwise known as edible seaweed? Further into the village you can find Fosters Fruit & Flowers, which sells fresh fruit and vegetables. A short 1.8 mile drive away is Caldwells SPAR, where you can buy all your essential grocery items . They have a hot food counter, where there are freshly prepared meals each day available to purchase.
We are 2.5 miles from the Gobbins Ciff Path which makes up part of the Causeway Coastal Route. Browns Bay Beach and Portmuck harbour are a short 15 minute drive away, where guests can take part in water activities such as canoeing, paddle boarding and open water swimming. Carrickfergus Castle, built in 1177, is one of the best preserved medieval structures in Ireland and is only 6 miles away. The Titanic Visitor Centre is 14 miles from Loughview Lodge and can be accessed directly via Train. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, we are set in the perfect location for visiting the newly opened Game of Thrones Studio Tour, located just 22 miles from us. If you feel like visiting the famous dark hedges they are only a 38 mile drive along the North Coast. Many other popular attractions are within reach of Loughview Lodge such as Giants Causeway (61 Miles) and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (61 Miles). National Trust beach, Portstewart Strand, is 50 miles away and is a great way to spend a day out.
There are a number of excellent golf clubs nearby, with Whitehead Golf club neighbouring Loughview Lodge and Royal Portrush Golf Club, which hosted the 148th Open, only 48 miles away. Mens and Ladies golf clubs are available for guests to use free of charge.
Belfast City Centre, hosts a range of attractions such as Belfast Zoo, newly renovated Grand Opera House, Ulster Museum and a range of award winning restaurants. If you feel like a fun night out, you can visit Cathedral Quarter, which boasts a range of lively bars and pubs hosting live music and events all year round. Perhaps you fancy a drink at a National Trust listed building? Why not try out The Crown Liquor Saloon, which dates back to the 1880's? It is opposite Great Victoria Street station, which can be accessed directly from Whitehead.
