Brae Cottage

About

Brae Cottage is a charming country retreat that overlooks Whitehead, Islandmagee and Belfast Lough on the Causeway Costal Route. It is an ideal location to explore Northern Ireland and provides guests with a quiet semi-rural location yet convenient to Whitehead where you will find local shops and cafes and also a train station with a half hourly service to Belfast. George Best Belfast City Airport is a 30 minutes drive from the cottage and Belfast International Airport is a 40 minute drive.

The cottage has an open plan living area with spectacular sea views, an open fire and a rustic stable door. There is a modern well equiped kitchen, three bedrooms - a double and two singles, both with sea views and a family bathroom. Outside there is a balcony to the front of the cottage where you can enjoy alfresco dining while relaxing and taking in the stunning views. Flood-lit private secure parking is provided at the rear of the cottage and there is also a small garden where a picnic table is provided for outdoor dining.

Local attractions include Blackhead Coastal Walk, Whitehead Railway Museum and the world famous Gobbins Cliff Path Walk which is located approximately 2 miles from the cottage. Browns Bay and Port Muck harbour are a short drive away in Islandmagee. Carrickfergus is a 10 minute drive from the cottage where you can visit Carrickfergus Castle one of the best preserved medieval structures in Ireland.

The cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Causway Costal Route. Start with Carnfunnock Country Park and travel north through Ballygally, Glenarm and explore the Glens of Antrim. Visit the Dark Hedges, Balintoy Harbour, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Giants Causeway.  Ballycastle and Rathin Island are also a must.

Alternatively head south to Newcastle in Co. Down (approximately a 90 minute drive) and visit The Mountains of Mourne, Tollymore Forest Park and Murlough Beach.
