About

Fortwilliam is the only 18 hole golf course in the north of the City of Belfast. Established in 1891, we take great pride in the warmth of our welcome to visitors whether you come to sample the course, the clubhouse cuisine or preferably both!

Located just off the Antrim Road at Downview Avenue, Fortwilliam sits poised between the beauty of the wooded slopes of the Cave Hill to the west and the dramatic sweep of Belfast Lough to the east. The views from many of the tees and fairways will make your round so much more pleasurable.

The course, measuring just over 6000 yards par 70 from the back tees, is not long by modern standards but it poses its own challenges with heavily tree-lined narrow fairways and small difficult-to-read greens. There is many a golfer who has advocated the inclusion of a chainsaw as one of the fourteen clubs in the bag! From the tees some holes will require a fade while others will require a draw, however, every hole will test your skills to the fullest extent should you miss the greens. Rest assured, if your game has a weakness Fortwilliam Golf Course will find it. Over the years many Golfing Union of Ireland qualifying events and indeed pro-ams have proven it is no mean feat to play to your handicap around this very testing Course.

Regardless of how you are performing on the course, what awaits the completion of your round is an excellent après golf clubhouse with quality serviced bars and fine restaurant facilities in a very relaxed atmosphere.
