About

Welcome to Golden Thread Gallery, Northern Ireland's leading contemporary visual arts gallery. We strive to be a destination where each and every visitor is engaged, educated, challenged and inspired by visual art, and pride ourselves on offering a friendly, open space where everyone is welcome. We believe art is for everyone and should be as accessible as possible, so admission to our exhibitions, events, artist talks, family art workshops and community outreach is always free.

Since 2001 we've worked to broaden access to and improve public experience of visual art by offering exciting artistic programmes of work by acclaimed artists from all over the world, and by championing the work of contemporary Northern Irish artists. Our main galleries showcase world-class national and international artists, while our Project Space is designed to support early career and experimental artists.

For those who have never visited the gallery before, why not pay us a visit and get a taste of what we do? The gallery is happy to accommodate groups and offers guided gallery tours free of charge.

The gallery space is fully accessible for wheelchair users, with a ramp entrance and level landing, and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Blue Badge parking is available outside the gallery, with a drop kerb. We are a family friendly venue, with family area, buggy space and baby changing facilities available. Breastfeeding mums are welcome. Some exhibitions may require parental discretion, but our FOH team can offer details of all the exhibition content, including any noise/lights/sensory issues.

Golden Thread Gallery publishes and sells a wide variety of art books, rare periodicals and journals and gifts.

The gallery is located within easy walking distance of Belfast's city centre, between the Cathedral Quarter and Maritime Mile.
