About

At Belfast's first sustainable seafood restaurant, you will enjoy an extensive menu of some of the finest seafood at Fish City, including fresh, locally sourced Carlingford oysters, Strangford Lough mussels, and the much loved and award-winning signature dish - Fish & Chips. The first restaurant on the island of Ireland to be certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Fish City has been recognised as the UK's best fish and chip restaurant, as well as the UK's most sustainable (2023).

Not far from the bustle of Victoria Square, it is almost impossible to miss Fish City, with its three-storey colourful façade, with hand-painted illustrations depicting lighthouses and seafood, and a quote on the exterior wall from French conservationist Jacques Cousteau, reflecting the owners' passion for seafood sustainability.

The restaurant spans over three floors, with sculptures and artwork reflecting the local seafood and shipping industry that was once synonymous with Belfast. The maritime-themed Fisherman's Cabin and Fisherman's Hut upstairs provide private dining and large group dining options. In the warm summer months, the restaurant offers traditional Irish music from local musicians, and guests can soak up the sun whilst dining al fresco on the Terrace.

Alongside their à la carte menus, there is a weekly seafood special showcasing the best of local, seasonal ingredients and unique types of sustainable fish. You can also expect traditional favourites including a hearty bowl of traditional Irish seafood chowder, a range of meat dishes, and interesting vegetarian and gluten-free choices to suit everyone's palate.
