About

Museum at The Mill invites visitors of all ages to explore the history and heritage of Mossley Mill, a flax spinning mill in County Antrim which dates back to the early 1800s. The museum is set within what was originally the wet spinning floor and it tells the story of Mossley Mill and the people who worked there from the 1800s through to the mill closure in 1996. This story is presented through a colourful range of displays including artefacts, images and archival film.

The museum also features the outstanding development of the mill site in recent years as council headquarters and cultural centre. The original mill buildings have been sensitively conserved and the interiors adapted for modern day use whilst the mill dam is now an important habitat for a whole range of wildlife.

The Flax Gallery is a temporary exhibition space within the museum which houses a wide variety of exhibitions throughout the year.
