Day 1

Door No. 2: Fiddler’s Green

Experience some excellent Guinness as you visit Door No. 2 at traditional Portaferry bar Fiddlers Green.

Portaferry to Strangford by Ferry

Travel to Winterfell by ferry from Portaferry to Strangford, across the mouth of Strangford Lough. The name Strangford is derived from Old Norse Strangr-fj˛orðr, meaning ‘strong fjord’, describing the fast-flowing narrows at its mouth.

Audley’s Field | Robb Stark’s Camp, Oxcross

Situated in the magnificent Castle Ward estate, Audley’s Field and castle overlook the tranquil waters of Strangford Lough. After his victory at the Battle of Oxcross, Rob meets Talisa who is tending wounded soldiers on the battlefield. Take time to explore the beautiful surrounding rolling landscape.

Castle Ward | Winterfell

You’re now entering the stronghold of House Stark. You’ll be robed in Stark regalia and handed a longbow and axe to test your battlefield skills. You’ll get a tour of Winterfell, meet the Direwolves, and even uncover some of the show’s special-effect secrets. It’s a rare chance to immerse yourself in the world’s biggest show.

Inch Abbey | Rob Stark’s Camp, Riverrun

Grab your Northerner’s cloak and weaponry and pledge your allegiance to Robb Stark. You’ll be recreating the moment Robb’s bannermen pledge fealty to him as the ‘King in the North’. You’ll also find the ruins of a real-life 12th century abbey here. And on a clear day, you should be able to spot Down Cathedral and the burial place of St Patrick in the distance.

Tollymore Forest | Lands Around Winterfell

Explore this beautiful 1,600-acre forest park at the foothills of the majestic Mourne Mountains, the backdrop for dark and dastardly deeds including when Wills finds the dismembered bodies in the snow, Tyrion and Jon’s campfire on their journey north to the wall, and the bridge where the Starks discover a dead direwolf and her pups.

Door No. 1: The Cuan

This cosy family-run guest inn and restaurant is home to Door No. 1 which reflects the opening sequence of the show.

Day 2

Cairncastle | The Neck & North of Winterfell

In the show, Cairncastle serves as the dramatic backdrop for Ned’s beheading of the Night’s Watch deserter and for Sansa when she learns of her marriage to Ramsay Bolton. This windswept plateau is located above a Bronze Age promotory fort and settlement.

Door No. 9: Ballygally Castle

This beautiful old castle is home to Door No. 9. Check out the display of Steensons’ Game of Thrones®-inspired jewellery.

Carnlough | Braavos Canal

Arrive at the pretty village and harbour of Carnlough and see the harbour steps where Arya crawls up to the streets of Braavos after being attacked by the Waif. The picturesque town of Carnlough is on the Causeway Coastal Route so photo opportunities abound.

Cushendun Caves | A Cove in the Stormlands

Step into the dark stony cave where a demon was born. This is where Davos watches as Melisandre, the Red Priestess, gives birth to the shadow creature. You’ll find the caves in Cushendun on the Causeway Coastal Route, a coastal drive that Lonely Planet named the world’s top region to visit in 2018.

Door No. 8: Mary McBride’s Bar

See Door No. 8 at Mary McBride’s. While here, try their ‘Pull-a-pint experience’ and homemade Irish wheaten bread.

Lunch Idea: Pub grub at Mary McBride’s

Larrybane | The Stormlands & Nagga’s Hill, Old Wyk

Larrybane is the spot where Renly Baratheon and his Queen Margaery Tyrell watch a tourney where her brother Ser Loras Tyrell is bested by an unknown knight, later revealed as Brienne of Tarth. Larrybane is a former chalk quarry close to Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, so you absolutely must cross the exhilarating rope bridge while you’re there.

Door No. 6: Fullerton Arms Door

No. 6, dominated by Daenerys most fearsome dragon, takes pride of place in this picturesque guesthouse.

Ballintoy | Lordsport Harbour and Pyke

Follow a narrow twisting road to discover this quaint fishing harbour. Ballintoy beach and harbour were used for several scenes including Theon’s return to Lordsport harbour to his family home and his baptism as well as Euron’s drowning and rebirth. Scenic Ballintoy is now synonymous with Pyke and the Iron Islands.


Day 3

Door No. 7: Dark Hedges Estate

Visit door no. 7 at the Dark Hedges Estate, a short distance from the Dark Hedges, also known as the Kingsroad.

The Dark Hedges | The Kingsroad

Simply iconic. Fans can’t come to Northern Ireland without visiting The Kingsroad. Here’s your chance to walk down the haunting avenue of beech trees, which was Arya and Gendry’s escape route from King’s Landing. Known locally as the Dark Hedges, you’ll find the intertwining trees and everchanging light create a special atmosphere.

Portstewart Strand | Coast of Dorne

Visit this spectacular two-mile stretch of beach at Portstewart to walk the coast of Dorne and climb the sand dunes where Jaime Lannister and Ser Bronn are attacked by Dornish soldiers, and where the ‘Sand Snakes’ discuss their plan to start a war against the Lannisters.

Lunch Idea: On location at Harry’s Shack

Downhill Beach | Dragonstone

 Located along the spectacular Causeway Coastal Route, Downhill Beach is part of an 11km stretch of sand and surf. Here Stannis Baratheon rejects the Seven Gods of Westeros and allows Melisandre to burn their effigies as an offering to the Lord of Light. Look out for Mussenden Temple perched dramatically on the cliff top.

Binevenagh | Dothraki Grasslands

This distinctive headland has dramatic cliffs and stunning views across Lough Foyle to Donegal. It can be easily viewed as you travel along the Causeway Coastal Route. Here the Dothraki horde surround Daenerys after her escape from the Meereen fighting pits on the back of Drogon and again when Dario and Jorah discover Daenerys’ ring while searching for her.

Door No. 5: Owens

Apart from the addition of Door No. 5 featuring the Night King, this traditional pub has remained virtually unchanged since 1852.

Toome Canal | Old Valyrian Canal

Toome Canal is easily reached from the small village of Toome, located where the River Bann flows from Lough Neagh to the Atlantic Ocean. As Jorah and Tyrion sail across The Summer Sea bound for Meereen they see Drogon flying overhead and at the same time are attacked by Stone Men. If time permits learn more about the history of the canal at the Lock Keeper’s Cottage.


Doors of Thrones

In 2016 a storm swept the island bringing down some of the iconic beech trees at the Dark Hedges. The wood from the fallen trees was salvaged and transformed into unique works of art in the form of 10 intricately crafted doors. Using iconic symbols and key scenes from the show, the doors work together to tell the tale of Season 6.

Door No. 1: The Cuan, Strangford

This Victorian pub, famous for its warm hospitality and now for Door No. 4, with its fierce House of Targaryen dragons.

Door No. 5: Owens, Limavady
