About

Experience the best of what the north coast has to offer from a different perspective… on horseback.

When you’re out on the North Coast on a horse, there’s the exuberance and exhilaration of doing what you want to do. The sea wind puts a curl in your hair, and you have power below you. You become one with the animal. When he steps into motion and into flight, you’re travelling together.

Danny McKinley is passionate about this area, and keen to share it with you. Exploring it on a tailor-made horseback tour, with Danny or one of his guides, is a great way to connect with the beautiful coastline. It anchors you to the land and to the many people over the centuries who have ridden there before you. There is no better vantage point from which to behold the panoramic views, and no better way to soak up the surroundings: the smell of gorse or heather, the sounds of birds or waves, the salty embrace of a sea breeze. This place – and this experience - is timeless and utterly unique.

You choose your own adventure. First, you pick what kind of horse you want - a cool, calm Irish Cob, or an athletic sports horse with more zip. Then comes the pace – some gentle “happy hacking”, or, for the more experienced, a speedy gallop. You might ride into the green heart of this beautiful corner of Northern Ireland, or take off for the beach. You’ll learn about traditional peat-cutting in the hills, or marvel at the splendour of the 18th century Mussenden Temple, perched over the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll relax with a picnic lunch at Dunluce Castle, or even visit Game of Thrones locations.

As well as leading you along paths and pointing out the sights, your local guide will share history and stories from the North Coast – with plenty of wit and humour thrown in. You’ll meet people from the area, who will warmly welcome you and of course, there are the beaches. Vast stretches of unspoilt coastline where you’ll trot, canter or gallop, with the wind in your hair and sea at your feet.

The hoof prints your horse makes in the wet sand might be washed away in a matter of seconds, but the memories you come away with will last a lifetime.
