About

Best known among locals as 'The Vanishing Lake', Loughareema is a mysterious place indeed.

One day a sparkling lake, a few days later a bed of cracked mud and not a drop of water in sight. As you pass along the road that runs through the lake, it is exciting to guess what state it will be in.

Loughareema has been voted no 14 of the top 100 geological sites in the British Isles. Worth a visit.
