About

The Riverside Theatre is Northern Ireland’s oldest operating professional theatre outside of Belfast. It has an intimate 278 – 350 seat auditorium which offers an exciting and diverse annual programme, for children and adults, of comedy, dance, music, lectures, musical theatre, drama and art.

Set amidst the busy Ulster University campus in Coleraine, the theatre serves the wide reaching Causeway Coast & Glens community. Its Riverside Youth Theatre has previously had some of the finest Northern Irish talent attend. Actor James Nesbitt, newsreader Mark Carruthers, actor Bronagh Waugh and theatre director Zoe Seaton are among some of its previous attendees. Still running to this day, it attracts children and young people aged 5 – 18 years old from as far afield as Rathlin Island and Ballymena.

The theatre’s café/restaurant, Truva Riverside is open from 10am – 3pm and on performance evenings. Its menu includes a range of hot drinks, soft drinks and food options to suit all tastes. Vegans, vegetarians and those with food intolerances will all find something to suit.
The theatre also boasts its own bar, open on performance nights and sells a wide range of alcoholic drinks, premium spirits and mixers.

The venue is available for event hire, and has previously hosted many conferences, weddings, exhibitions, and lectures. Its facilities can comfortably host smaller or larger gatherings, with catering, drinks and entertainment available on request. Please get in touch with a member of staff if you would like more information.
