About

A waymarked route around Kinramer South, taking in the south of the island with stunning views of dramatic sea cliffs and of Ballycastle beyond.

Start Point:
D106 514

Finish Point:
D106 514

Route:
Follow the road to your left leading west from the harbour. Turn right by the church and up the Church Brae to the chapel. Follow the road to the left and continue on this for 4.2 km until reaching Kinramer Camping Barn on the left hand side (a white traditional style cottage with white outbuilding opposite a black barn). During the summer months you can get the Puffin Bus from the harbour and ask to get off at Kinramer Camping Barn, if you would prefer. 50m to the right when looking at Kinramer Camping Barn is a wooden gate with green waymarkers attached. Follow these waymarkers into the field and for the rest of the route. Continue through the field and cross the board walk, continue skirting the hill for 300m then make your way to the top. Follow waymarkers that lead you down hill on the seaward side, skirting the hill to the right. Continue to descend by dropping down a steep section, again bear right and follow the fenceline to the cliff top. When descending this section look back towards to hill to see basalt columns that are the same structure as those found on the Giants Causeway. Follow the cliff top to the left hand side. Bear left up a small stream valley, before using a style to cross a stream on your right hand side. Continue over the small hill and bear left in the next field to arrive at a wooden gate leading onto the road. Bear left on the road to arrive back at the Kinramer Camping Barn. Please note that there may be livestock present on this trail and that the route is adjacent sea cliffs.
