About
Built in 1897 by the Naughton brothers of Randalstown, Clonard Monastery was designed in early French Gothic style by Ludwig Oppenheimer; Clonard is home to the Redemptorist Order, which was founded in Italy in 1732.
The vision of Clonard is of a Centre of welcome and outreach, of faith and wisdom, where people, especially the broken, can find the freedom to discover the plentiful Redemption of Jesus. As a Community of Redemptorists and Co-workers, in partnership with others, Clonard will celebrate and proclaim the plentiful redemption of Jesus. They will strive to make each liturgy a living experience of God and be open and available to all in their search for peace. Clonard will create an environment that will attract and reach out to those who feel alienated from belief or from the Church.
