About
Corbet Lough is a premier 70 acre trout fishery set in the scenic County Down countryside against the backdrop of the Mourne Mountains. It offers fantastic angling opportunities for local anglers and tourists alike.
The facilities at Corbet Lough include a boating dock and jetty, complete with six McA fishing boats and one wheelyboat for use by disabled anglers. There are three fishing stands with wheelchair access, two timber shelters and three angling platforms to the front restricted concession shore. There is also a Boat Attentants fishing lodge with public toilet provision.
Corbet is a fly fishing/spinning/bait fishing Lough (i.e. catch and release, stopping when the second fish is dispatched), offering rainbow trout with a smaller amount of brown trout. Successful fly patterns for the Corbet include Bloodworms, Buzzers, Cormorants, Damsels, Sedge Patterns, Daddies and Hoppers. Buzzers will catch fish throughout the season.
The Lough, has a 2 fish per day per angler bag limit. All brown trout must be returned alive to the Lough. While anglers cannot bring boats, six McA fishing boats are available, plus one wheelyboat which is suitable for anglers with a disability. Visiting and occasional anglers who have a disability and can produce either a disabled car badge or disabled rod licence may purchase a Concession Day Ticket to worm fish from 1 July onwards. Day Tickets cost £16 and a summer Evening Ticket with a 1 fish bag limit is available at just £11 (2018 prices).
Banbridge Angling Club Day Tickets are available from the Boat Attendants Office at Corbet Lough, the nearby Anglers Rest, Aughnacloy Road, Corbet and Coburns Tackle Shop, Scarva Street, Banbridge. A DAERA game fishing rod license is also required for adults and juveniles over 12 years.
