Ashfield was officially opened by championship golfer, Fred Daly M.B.E. on Friday 28th September 1990 after over two years work designing the layout by Frank Ainsworth (of Malone golf club, Belfast) and converting the land from an arable farming set up. The course has been G.U.I. Affiliated since 1992. Ashfield is located in the heart of South Armagh, approximately 1 hour from both Dublin Airport and from Belfast.The course has seen continuous improvement over the years with thousands of trees planted from a wide variety of species, new lakes added, maturing greens and larger tee boxes all aimed at enhancing the challenge and the enjoyment.
The signature hole is undoubtedly the 6th at 194 yards the green is well protected by water, requiring careful club selection. The clubhouse offers visitors full catering facilities and visitors and societies are always welcome.
