Mussenden Unwind - Fire And Feast

Downhill Beach, Castlerock, County Londonderry, BT51 4WE
Mussenden Unwind

About

Join us for an exclusive dining experience under the magical Mussenden Temple at Downhill beach. Claire, a local food producer, awakens the spirit of the land in sea in this special area of conservation and offers a magical and authentic Causeway Coast dining experience.

This evening will be a celebration of the old ways, an opportunity to taste local food produce and to hear stories of the land and sea from local native, Claire from Mussenden Sea Salt. Her ancestors run deep into the fabric of the Downhill beach and surrounding landscape. Highlights of the experience

• Forrest Foraging & Forest Bathing
• Wild cooking
• Wild swimming

On arrival at Downhill beach, you will be warmly welcomed by Claire from Mussenden Sea Salt, who will introduce you to the wild cooking area at Downhill beach. Nestled under the magnificent and magical Mussenden Temple. The area has been set up to the highest standard and follow Claire's ethos which marries the sustainable with the luxury to create unique and memorable events.

Once settled with a nice warm drink, usually a little taste of our local hot chocolate, made by the wonderful Geri from the Chocolate Manor, or tea by the fabulous Let's Infuse Tea, blended only a few short miles away in Coleraine. Of course, if coffee is your thing, we have local blends by Causeway Coffee and Fidela Coffee (members of Taste Causeway in Coleraine and proud members of the Slow Food Causeway Network).
A delicious taste of the local area awaits you, in this bespoke beach feast. Please note that our menu will feature local fresh produce and we are so looking forward to surprising you with our menu. Please do let us know if you have any known allergies or any dietary requirements. After our walk through the forest of Downhill we arrive back at our beach location.

As we sit back and relax to the rhythmic sound of the waves and feel the sand between our feet, we watch the sun setting, painting the evening sky. There really is nothing quite like the feeling that the world has stopped for a moment. Our luxury designed dining area, embraces the elements, but offers that luxury touch to outside dining, making it the perfect opportunity to unwind in the elements after a busy week.

As we finish our evening meal, we embrace all things sea and salt and take our plunge into the sea, dip your toes, immerse your body, there is no expectation, just the awakening of the senses through the moonlight dip in the wild Atlantic Sea. This is open to all swimming abilities. (Don't worry though if this is not your thing, we don't expect you to take part, we will though say that it is a truly unique experience, and worth considering)
As we warm ourselves at the roaring fires, and wrap up warm in the cosy dry robes, There is truly nothing like the feeling of standing under the rugged landscape of Binevenagh, it feels like you have the beach to yourself, it stops you in your tracks and embeds a memory that embraces the giant spirit of The Causeway Coast.
