About
The cottage is a wonderful example of a vernacular building and is a rare one and a half storey Grade B+ Listed thatched cottage circa 1830.
It was fully restored and renovated to a high standard in 2016/2017. It is a very well-known landmark within the Bellaghy area which is loved and appreciated by both the local community and far beyond.
The ground floor consists of a small entrance hall which leads to the living room off which the rest of the ground floor flows. There is a kitchen/dining area, utility room, single bedroom, double bedroom and a small wet room. The living room and both bedrooms have working open fireplaces and there is a woodburning stove located in the kitchen/dining area. The stairs in the cottage are located at the rear of the living room fireplace leading to a spacious landing off which are a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower and bath, a walk-in hot press and a further double bedroom with ensuite. The cottage is flooded with natural daylight making it a beautiful and relaxing environment. There are lawns to the front and one side of the cottage. To the rear there is a spacious gravel yard for parking and several outbuildings used mostly when this was previously a working farm.
Tea, coffee and tray bakes will be available for a charitible donation. Our chosen charity this year is Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI). This event will provide a full tour of the cottage and some of the history of aspects of the cottage and of those who lived there. All tours must be pre-booked.
