About

 These extensive remains are of a Cistercian Abbey founded in 1180 by John de Courcy, who led the 1177 Anglo-Norman invasion of East Ulster.  For EHOD Saturday 10 September 1-4pm, the monks will be roaming the abbey why not come along and meet them.

To enhance your experience, you can park and ride from Downpatrick town centre car parks (as limited parking at the Abbey) and travel out on our heritage diesel railcar as seen Derry Girls train via the Downpatrick & County Down Railway. Refreshments will be available on board all trains.
