16 Main Street, Benburb, County Tyrone, BT70 2LA
Benburb Castle EHOD 2024

About

A plantation bawn built in 1611 by Sir Richard Wingfield, now located in the grounds of the Servite Priory. The bawn encloses an irregular area, with walls standing almost to full height.

The rectangular towers located in the north-east and north-west corners are more like large houses than defensive flankers.

Both towers have been re-roofed and restored. At the south end is a circular tower with steps down to a postern gate at the cliff edge.
