Think different: Eat different: Be different at the Award winning Hidden City Café, an ethical independent licenced family café. Our aim is to not only create delicious healthy and tasty food but to provide a different eating experience. We have a huge focus on clean honest plantbased foods. We use our imagination and creativity to address recipe ideas whilst keeping the pricing relative. We endeavour to have as much fairtrade, organic and local ingredients as possible without it costing the earth. Whilst the café caters to ALL diets, vegan diets are a speciality. The Café is licensed serving up a superb selection of wines, spirits and local brewed beers. Open late on Friday and Saturday nights for casual, tasty food and chat plates…. Chat plates served from 9 to 11pm designed to create an intimate casual and conducive to creating chat!

The cafes cool interior and brilliant playlist has created an ambiance like no other. Justyn and Bronagh buck the trends and follow their dreams creating something others can aspire to.

Justyn discovered his passion for food and hospitality, during his experiences working in hospitality in New York, London, Dublin, Belfast and Portrush. It was always his dream to open his own doors and indeed Hidden City Café was actually set to open 15 years ago!!!!! The premises were ready to rock salt and bread roll, but fate intervened and the dream was shelved for the moment.
Justyn continued his passion for creating delicious dishes, catering for family, friends and friends of friends at private events and parties. In 2008 he began creating his own brand of ‘Hidden City’ salads and dressings, selling and marketing them in local businesses and at farmers markets. Hidden City Café finally opened its doors in September 2017. Since then the café has quickly gained a reputation for: it’s fair-trade, organic, freshly roasted coffee, its imaginative wholesome menu offering vegan, vegetarian, GF, seafood and chicken choices, it exclusively supplies Ann Marie’s’ Vegan cakes (15s, Donuts, tray bakes, muffins… nom), locally supporting Joe Jackson vegan ice cream, broighter gold, Managhbeg Mushrooms, Gavs Organic produce, Donegal Prime, to name a few, nurturing a firm environmental ethos. Hidden City Cafés ethical core means all take out packaging is compostable, biodegradeable and natural, All our drinks are in glass bottles and we have only ever used paper straws. The café is part of the Conscious Cup Campaign, offering discounts on bringing your own cup, the Independent Derry Card, Fairtrade, and have raised funds for numerous animal welfare, and other charities. Of course there is also the lovely friendly hard working staff, alongside some stonking good music. We are truly delighted by the response we have received from our customers.
