About

This walk takes a spectacular approach to the summit of Benaughlin, or Binn Eachlabhra - which means peak of the speaking horse.

The terrain through dense forests and along mountain paths is rough and mostly unsurfaced and the route is a difficult one but the views will be the hikers reward.

Before you ascend the mountain there is a fantastic view of Upper Lough Erne with its myriad islands and finger-like promontories. From the summit there are wonderful views in all directions. To the east is UpperLough Erne and the low hill of Knockinny, to the southeast is the wind farm on Slieve Rushen. To the west lies Cuilcagh and to the north is Lough Macnean Lower with Belmore Mountain beyond.
