This is a classic circular cycling route, easier cycled than said, that winds its way from the bustling seaside town of Newcastle, through the myriad of villages and townlands that decorate the northern foothills of the high Mournes.The region is rich in culture, with the many place names offering insights into the natural, built and social heritage that defines both their past and present, including the 10th century Maghera site attributed to St Donard.
Stop off for a wholesome lunch at Meelmore Lodge Café and enjoy some of the most impressive views of the Mournes from this impressive vantage point.
