About

McCollam's is a friendly gastro pub where tourists and locals make for in search of authentic Irish traditional music, folk singing and great food! (music when guidelines allow)

The ground floor original bar is a step back in time, a bar hand built by a family member in the 1800s and it looks it, no slick handcrafted work here! The bar has loads of character, a place to meet and talk, no tv, slot machines or other eletronic distractions, a place for strangers to meet, enjoy the conversation and leave having made new friends.

The kitchen is dominated by the last known Joseph Blair Range, installed in the1890s and still works to this day! All food for upstairs dining room was cooked on this range in the earlier years for family, residents and visitors. Ladies were not allowed into public bar but would have been ushered into the kitchen or front parlour for tea or nothing stronger than a sherry.

The parlour would have been viewed as the good room with its tiny open fireplace, indeed customers still enjoy this quaint little room, sitting round the fire on the cool Irish evenings, singing while accompanied on piano, listening to traditional music, chatting and telling stories! This is where family members from 1910 keep an eye, from the wall, on present day family members, checking all is as it should be!

The back lounge was the bottling store and had many rolls apart from bottling stout/whiskey from wooden barrels. The open fire with its hooked crane and large pots was used for boiling mash for hens and horses, laundry for the boarding house and upstairs restaurant.Today it's popular for cultural and other gatherings. The disabled toilet is just next to it.

The main body of the building and the bottling store is connected by a glazed yard which links and knits everything together, a very bright and plesent space leading into a very nice beer garden with smoking area.
