Our Story
WaveRides Paddleboarding is an exciting activity provider primarily based in the picturesque harbour at Carrickfergus Castle, on the main Causeway Coastal Route.
Participants can choose from a range of Stand Up Paddleboarding sessions suitable for beginners to those with some experience, under the guidance of a fully qualified instructor with over 35 years of maritime experience.
Jet Ski
The company also offers structured training courses and bespoke away day sessions for groups.
Surfing
Experiences include Taster Sessions, Dark & Stormy Night Sessions, group paddleboarding on a super large paddleboard or Paddleboard Fitness Classes.
Parasailing
WaveRides also benefits from being a mobile business operating in Comber, Newtownards or your local water base.

“We live in Co. Longford and I visited the Carrickfergus area last week for 3 nights with 4 kids (5 of us in total). We had a great time and the weather certainly helped. One of the most enjoyable experiences of the trip for the kids was a supping session with WaveRides in Carrickfergus. Robbie, the coach, was very helpful and the kids loved it. He gave them a 2 hour session which consisted of 30 minutes of theory and about 90 minutes on the water. The kids were aged from 9 to 14 and absolutely loved it. He was very attentive to them, very patient as they tried to get used to the boards and was a great teacher. The setting is beautiful in the harbour against the background of Carrickfergus castle and very safe. I’d recommend this highly to anyone for either themselves or their kids. The session caters for those who have never stood on a board before to those who have a reasonable knowledge of supping. We’ll certainly be back.”
