So what else is happening over The 148th Open? Here are some ideas to get you started and make the most of your time when you’re here for the golf…

Victoria Square, Belfast

In Victoria Square Shopping Centre, Northern Ireland themed mini golf will be in place for all to enjoy (Wednesday 17th July – Sunday 21st July).  At the weekend (Saturday 20th July 11.00 - 17:00  and Sunday 21st July 13:00 - 17:00) why not pop into the centre to enjoy local ice cream vendor Al-Gelato along with a pop up local bar and local fayre traders selling handmade Northern Ireland goods.

CastleCourt Shopping Centre, in the centre of Belfast also has lots for visitors to avail of over The Open period.

Why not take a little bit of Belfast back with you, at the Wrapped Up Souvenir Workshop.  On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July on the upper mall, join in at making your own customised key ring tag with a personalised symbol, or initials – taking away a personalised souvenir from Belfast.

Restaurants

Deanes at Queens, Belfast

Enjoy the live action of The 148th Open on a large screen throughout the tournament at Deanes at Queens while enjoying lunch, dinner or drinks.

Sweet Afton is welcoming visitors and locals to join them to celebrate this year’s The 148th Open.  Watch the tournament on the big screens whilst enjoying whiskey flight tastings and traditional Irish food specials, which are served daily.  Or why not join in on the Pour your own pint of Guinness session?

Why not dine in Fratelli during the week of The 148th Open, with tasty Italian dishes on the menu, and fill your details in to be in with a chance of winning a 4 ball at Galgorm Castle Golf Club?

On Sunday 21st July, head along to Deanes Meatlocker for The 19th Hole event.  On the last day of The Open, enjoy dinner and a live band to celebrate it’s success.  Full a la carte menu and live music until late.

Hadskis and James Street are both offering a 4 course taste of Northern Ireland menu for £45 per person– available from 15th-21st July.

The best of the rest

Enjoy an orchard tour with Long Meadow Farm in County Armagh.  This tour explains the various orchard plantations along with the history of the oak barrels and gives visitors the opportunity to visit the cold storage facilities, see the pressing and blending facilities and visit the Apple Cider Vinegar Room.  And of course, there is the opportunity to sample the produce created on-site - craft cider, apple juice and apple cider vinegar.  While you’re there, why not try on an apple picking bag?
