Take an aerial tour of the seven kingdoms, meet the Stark direwolves or catch a boat from Lordsport Harbour. Northern Ireland is a dream for fans and curious visitors alike. Here's what's on offer.

Immersive experiences

Castle Ward Demense in County Down is instantly recognisable as Winterfell and it's here that you can book a filming location cycle tour, exercise your archery skills or stay for the night in a cool glamping pod. No need to worry about wolves roaming the forest, it's just direwolves that reside here. Book ahead to arrange a meet and greet.

Where to stay: if a night in the forest isn't for you (winter is here after all), try 4* Potter's Cottage.

If you fancy splashing out on an experience of a lifetime, look no further than Cutting Edge Helicopters. Asend like a raven into the sky and take in the stunning filming locations below. Fly across Downhill Beach (Dragonstone), Portstewart Strand (the Coast of Dorne), Binevenagh (the Dothraki Grasslands) and many more beautiful locations.

Where to stay: add even more luxury and book a stay in the 4* Roe Park Resort.

Set sail with an Aquaholics Sea Safari and as you and make your way out into the Atlantic Ocean, you'll get an ocean perspective of the many Game of Thrones® filming locations found along the Causeway Coastal Route. Visiting Ballintoy Harbour (Lordsport Harbour), Murlough Bay and Fair Head (Slaver's Bay) the tour lasts around 4 hours and you might even spot some dolphins - not dragons - along the way.

Where to stay: just around the corner from Aqualholics HQ you can cosy-up in 4* Cul-Erg House B&B.

Food experiences

Take a seat at King Robert Baratheon's banquet table in The Cuan, County Down. Dress up in your finest robes and sit down to dinner with themed dishes, traditions and plenty of delicious local ingredients. Found in the coastal town of Strangford, The Cuan is also home to a Season 6 Game of Thrones® door, so don't forget to download the souvenir Game of Thrones® passport and collect a stamp.

Where to stay: After the feast, head upstairs and rest your head in 4* The Cuan

Alternatively, if you're loyal to Winterfell, sit down to a banquet at Castle Ward Demesne. In this medieval inspired setting, you'll feel like you're on the film set. Wear your robes and enjoy dinner served at long tables with church candles lighting up the hall.

Where to stay: check into the 3* Portaferry Hotel and when you're in the area, visit Fiddler's Green for a night cap and take in a second Season 6 Game of Thrones® door.

Sit down to themed afternoon tea in the Ballygally Castle Hotel, County Antrim. The hotel is home to another Season 6 Game of Thrones® door and has an impressive display of Steenson's Jewellery, creaters of many opulent pieces for the show including the crowns for Margaery Tyrell and Joffery Baratheons' wedding. Situated along the Causeway Coastal Route, the hotel makes a great base for those wishing to explore the coasline or visit the nearby filming locations.

Where to stay: make a break of it in the 4* Ballygally Castle Hotel.

If you're keen to see more of the doors, then the Glenara Food and Door tour is for you. This tour operates in the evenings and takes in four of the ten Game of Thrones® Season 6 doors. Travelling from Limavady to Cushendun along the Causeway Coastal Route, you'll have the chance to see the beautifully carved doors, as well as time to sample local cuisine and enjoy a tipple or two.

Where to stay: situated right beside the infamous Giant's Causeway, book a room in the 3* Causeway Hotel.

Self-guided tours


Navigate your way around Westeros with the Game of Thrones® Filming Locations Northern Ireland app. Download and you'll find a map of Northern Ireland complete with filming locations, scenes from the show and the whereabouts of the Season 6 Game of Thrones® doors. Available for Android and iOS, look out for this icon.
